🚗 Honoring a Greenfield Legacy: C.R. Patterson Storyboard Installation 🚗

Main Street Downtown Greenfield is proud to announce that a 60-foot-wide, 8-foot-tall historical storyboard honoring Charles Richard (C.R.) Patterson will be installed on the east exterior wall at 301 Jefferson St, Greenfield on August 27th.
C.R. Patterson was a pioneering African American entrepreneur, innovator, and community leader whose company—C.R. Patterson & Sons—was the only Black-owned automobile manufacturer in U.S. history. Starting with expertly crafted carriages and buggies, the company later transitioned into building automobiles and buses that were sold across the nation.

In addition to the storyboard, the space will feature lighting and new benches, creating a welcoming spot for residents and visitors to pause, reflect, and connect with Greenfield’s remarkable history.
This striking permanent outdoor display will celebrate Patterson’s incredible achievements and remind all who pass through our downtown of Greenfield’s rich heritage of determination, ingenuity, and progress.

Stay tuned for photos of the installation and the official unveiling—we can’t wait to share this monumental piece of history with our community and visitors alike!
